THE SILENT KILLER STRIKES AGAIN and AGAIN

ORIGINALLY POSTED DECEMBER 17, 2007 at: myspace.com/yourspacehcv

It has been my goal to make awareness if not fun at least not boring. The main point being that people are suffering from Hep C on a catastrophic level – 200 million (200,000,000) people around the globe are infected. Pandemic means out of control on a world wide level. Hep C is a pandemic disease. It affects everyone from drug user to Surgeon and everyone in between, above and sideways. No one is left out of Hep C's reach.

Ya'll have been great by embracing the cause on your own and passing info along to friends. So now it is the holiday season. I should be if not quiet at least festive. Well folks Hep C just doesn't give a shit about the holidays and has claimed two friends within a week of each other. Marc Perry spoke at Debbullan's awareness event Everything Is Possible 2007. The mp3 will play automatically by visiting Your Space HCV or can be downloaded [see] below. Last night (December 16th) Marc's battle with Hep C ended. With a peaceful look on his face he looked at his wife and said: "I love you" and then died.

Last week (December 12) Darin Edelhauser died from complications directly caused by Hep C. Darin had already beat the disease through treatment but he was so used to feeling like crap because of the disease, then the treatment and then being sick in post treatment he ignored symptoms of a heart attack that would have any of the rest of us calling the doctor in a heart beat (no pun intended). Everyone else was so used to either feeling or hearing about the side affects of treatment no one that read Darin's question posted on Hep C support groups …"does anyone else feel this way?" thought…man you are having a heart attack get to the doctor! I read it after the fact. The symptoms he posted were classic heart attack symptoms. Hep C killed him as surely as I am breathing.

So here's the thing folks and the lesson comes right in the holiday season when we really don't want to hear about it…You don't have to have Hep C to be affected by it. I don't have Hep C and I have not sobbed in sorrow in so long a time until I heard Darin was lost because of it. Darin's wife and family do not have Hep C. But their world has been forever changed by it. Marc Perry's Wife and family do not have Hep C. They sat beside and held Marc as he died of it. Marc was in discussions for a record contract before the cancer directly caused by Hep C made him too sick to continue. His talent in music is lost to the planet because of Hep C.

Readers...friends, if you don't have Hep C, let your family and friends know the disease needs voices. Too many are sick. Too many are dying. For these stories that you do hear there are millions you are not hearing because most victims have been shamed into not speaking out. Millions are ashamed of a disease that does hold a life expectancy. Help speak for them until they can feel safe to speak out more on their own. Too many people just don't understand that a difference can be made if we all say it needs to be...until we all say "ENOUGH." together.

Do this and if you want to make even more of a difference just ask me how.

Hep C is the leading blood borne virus in the world infecting 200 million people. A significant amount of people do not know they are victim of the disease...in the US over 60%.

What can you do to make a difference? Shoot a quick Email to me and ask.

Everything Is Possible 2007 - Wrap Up

Since 1989 when the disease received a name victims have been taught to be silent. What I can never wrap my mind around is how over 200 million people in this world that have a disease that does hold a life expectancy can remain silent. Hepatitis C does kill. It kills slowly and 80% of the time there are absolutely no signs or symptoms someone is infected until damage is done to the liver, then ya get some symptoms. How do people remain silent? Other people say they must or be subject to ridicule. Ignorance is dangerous.

So the first thing Everything Is Possible 2007 planned to do is raise voices and it did. Beginning October 2006 it was not long before musicians from Belgium, Spain, Italy, France, Mexico, Ireland and around the US, all said they wanted to be here. They all pledged their performances. They all agreed if a sponsor would pay their travel and hotel they would proudly advertise the sponsor in a variety of ways.

Many other people jumped up and said yes. People from around the world created and posted banners on their personal pages showing their support for the event. Everyone agreed that if a sponsor would support a band's travel and hotel stay they would fly a banner that showed that sponsor's name.

Sons of Hermann in Dallas Texas donated the venue: The Grand Hall of SOH is listed as a Landmark in Historic Registries as well as the best venue for live music in multiple years by readers of the largest "what's happening?" newspaper in Dallas, The Dallas Observer.

In early June, 2007 we have the support by the public necessary to enlist sponsors: Banners are not only flown, bulletins, blogs and emails were sent by a growing force of people asking for other people to do the same. Viewers of banners grows 10 thousand people a week for months. Sponsorship solicitation begins by Debbullan Inc. Corporations in the music business are approached for sponsorship: Manufacturers of equipment, record labels, recording studios and more. Corporations in the health industry were approached (no pharmaceutical companies were approached). Transportation leaders were approached. Internet as well as Corporations in the private sector…In the end three responses were received, we were ignored by the rest. The answer…no, no, no.

BUT Everything Is Possible 2007 had to go on because people around the world were excited about it. NEVER have people around the world rallied for just one aspect of Hep C, in this case awareness. Simple awareness. That was the full reason for Everything Is Possible 2007. Hep C exists but is ignored. Hep C kills but is ignored. Hep C affects a world population but is ignored. Hep C affects 200 million people worldwide but does not compete in proactive attention as the next most formidable blood borne virus, HIV does (affects 33 million people worldwide). People stepped up to say they wanted to see this changed. So without sponsorship of any corporation two bands from Belgium, one from Spain and many bands from around Texas along with one musician from Tennessee converge on Sons Of Hermann. The music was outstanding. Everything Is Possible 2007 is complete. It's in the books. It was reported in Newspapers and on Radio in both Belgium and Spain. With multiple press releases submitted to US media, the story was never picked up.

Keep talking about it 'cause we aint' done. Stories were told tearfully over and over again by people that were touched by the enormity of this unspoken disease during their involvement with Everything Is Possible 2007. In talking about it they learned someone they know has the disease and has never spoken of it or has lost someone very close to the disease or has a loved one that is a victim to Hep C. Some learned the problems they face dulled when compared to the problems people with Hep C face.

Thanks to absolutely everyone around the world that was a part of this beginning. We're working on offering the recording of the entire 12 hours of the event.

EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE 2007

Everything Is Possible 2007 is a unified effort, lead by musicians, to bring positive awareness of Hep C to a GLOBAL residence.
Initial information for the event is available at…yes you guessed it, a MySpace. Specifically Your Space HCV

WHY SHOULD EVERY MUSICIAN JOIN IN EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE 2007?

”Everything Is Possible 2007" is proclaimed to be the WOODSTOCK of Hep C awareness. As the original WOODSTOCK held a theme of social awareness in a political sense and was aimed at residence of the US, Everything Is Possible 2007 holds the theme of positive awareness of Hep C and is aimed at residence of the World.”

Prior to WOODSTOCK only a small part of the United States knew who the performers were that took the stage. After WOODSTOCK EVERYONE came to know and love the artists music.

There is also an altruistic reason involved here. Whether you know it or not someone you know is infected or they know someone affected by Hep C. This is FACT. The definition of “Affected”: “Influenced in a harmful way; impaired, harmed, or attacked, as by climate or disease.”

Unfortunately what most people in the world do not know is that Hep C does affect us all. It is the best, hidden secret and is the number one blood borne virus in the world today. Hepatitis C surpassed HIV in number of victims years ago. Yet the main populous is unaware of this fact, of what Hep C is or how victims of HIV can be co-infected by HCV.
WHAT IS HEP C? WHY IS IT A SECRET?
Hepatitis C is caused by the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). The virus can only be transmitted by blood contact. The Hep C virus infects the blood system and specifically attacks the human liver. It was the first "virus" officially listed as a carcinogenic (known to cause [liver] cancer), the disease is also responsible for cirrhosis of the liver and complete liver failure. Victims have been made to remain silent due to the negative connotation associated with this disease. In most cases victims are immediately associated with illegal, drug use. This fact will shortly be officially dispelled. Why? Because this fact is "ERRONEOUS" definitions of which: 1) containing error; mistaken; incorrect; wrong: an erroneous an erroneous answer. 2) Straying from what is moral, decent, proper, etc.
For example, throwing out these age factors: You are 15 to 25 years old. You are either leading, subject to or fully involved in becoming part of the in-crowd. So, you do whatever is necessary to fit in. This may include cocaine or intravenous drugs…just once does it. You try it once.
Jump ahead, you are now 40+ years old. You hold a respectable job, work in a respectable field, have a family or have just simply grown up. Your youth is a fond memory.
You go to your MD for whatever reason and find you have Hep C. You also find out that you were infected up to 15-25 YEARS ago and it is just now showing up in your blood test. Which means it has layed dormant for all these years and has just begun to attack your liver. While it lays dormant in a victim's blood stream the virus is fully transmittable. Also, keep in mind Hep C was not even given a name until 1989. There was no medical warning of the disease 18 years ago.
Your immediate reaction, what the heck is Hep C? Your first education: Hep C is a drug user’s disease. Do you want to keep your infection a secret? Are you now or were you ever a drug user? See the problem?
Basically most victims learn to keep their mouths shut. This and its dormancy are reasons this disease has been named “The Silent Killer”. Whether you were infected with Hep C by the above scenario, or by blood transfusion (prior to 1992), work in the medical industry, a member of proud military service from the Vietnam era, are simply one of the 10% who has no idea how you contracted Hep C or a victim of the myriad of ways you came into blood contact with a victim unknowingly…you may be lumped into the category of current DRUG USER. 200 million people on this earth are not drug users. This is what EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE 2007 is about. A break in the silence by both victims and their family and friends. Mass awareness and positive understanding will lead to positive a progression of a humane treatment and eventually, cure.

Victims have a disease that is known to have a life expectancy. They are made to keep this disease a secret. In the US there are no governmental assistance programs in place for victims of Hep C. Perhaps the main reason…not enough people are asking for them.

WHY DOES HEP C AFFECT YOU IF YOU DO NOT HAVE HEP C?
Take a look at health insurance rates of late. Hep C is the number one cause of Liver Transplants in the US. The average liver transplant costs $250,000 (usd). This is only the beginning; Anti-rejection drugs must be taken for the remainder of the victim's entire life ($4,000 to 10,000 / year). If a victim does opt for the 50% chance of successful treatment the cost is about $50,000 dollars a year. Hep C ain't no joke and it ain't going away. The World Health Organization calls Hepatitis C a “Viral Time Bomb”

There are OVER 5 million victims in the US. There are 200 million victims worldwide. According to every responsible reporting source, due to the dormancy of the disease and how Hep C can be spread during it's dormancy, the number of victims has only just begun to surface.

Whether you are a resident of the US or a resident of any other Country having supportive health care, you, personally are paying for the devastation Hep C reaks on any health care system. The costs have only just begun.
Join in, musician or no, raise your voices in song or uniformity across the world. Help Make This Disease Understood. Help Make A Difference.
